Reviews for Moon Flower Modern Chinese
Review highlights
Based on 1,275 reviewsMoon Flower Modern Chinese is widely recognized for its extensive dim sum selection and authentic Cantonese offerings, making it a popular choice for both casual dining and group brunches in Northbridge. Customers appreciate the lively atmosphere, particularly during yum cha sessions with traditional push carts adding to the experience. Service is generally friendly and attentive, though some reviews note occasional forgetfulness or slower service during busy periods. The food quality is mostly praised, with highlights including classic dishes and innovative desserts, though minor inconsistencies in seasoning have been mentioned. Convenient parking options add to the venue’s accessibility, reinforcing its reputation as a favored spot for Chinese cuisine enthusiasts in Perth.
Undoubtedly one of Perth's most exceptional Chinese restaurants. A true gem that I would recommend to guests and friends. Conveniently located in Northbridge. The service is top-notch: staffs are attentive and friendly. Parking: Convenient parking downstairs (narrow that needs skilled driver lol) and on the street. I usually park at the outdoor CPP, 100m away but currently free. Extensive selection of dishes: Generous portion, nice presenting and authentic flavors. I would say they serve some of the best snow crab in Perth, which is why we keep coming back. We got to select the crab size and watching the staff scaling - very important as this decides how much we would pay (at market price) While the prices may not be the cheapest, they are absolutely justified by the exceptional quality of the food and the overall dining experience. ————————————————————— Recommended Dishes: - Salted Egg Yolk Snow Crab (less salty version) - Steamed Garlic Scallops - Seafood Fish Maw Soup (best enjoyed with red vinegar and white pepper) - Special Fried Rice - Red Bean Soup with Citrus Peel (dessert)
Full house on a Thursday lunch yum cha at Moon Flower, buzzing with trolley ladies, spilt tea and soy sauce. A casual team lunch, advantages of traveling back in time include: we left at lunch, and yet somehow arrived in time for lunch. . Plenty of options, from har gaw to all the dumplings and egg tarts. Only steamed rolls were missing. Sauce is oddly by request rather than on the table. Cute little jello duckies and mango sago are among the dessert options. . It's hectic and a bit too messy for anything but a casual meal, but the space is large and spacious with plenty of elbow room, with air conditioning. Very family friendly. . Tip - You can get 15% off if you dine on a weekday and give them 5 stars. Though this would explain the inflated reviews. . @moonflower_au Northbridge WA 6003 $175 for 3, including tea (est $60pp)
Service was okay, we got a table for two immediately without booking at 12pm on a Sunday. Servers were friendly enough but sometimes forgetful. Food was pretty decent, but the squid tentacles were extremely over-salted. It’s a pity because they were fried perfectly and the seasoning was so tasty. Durian mochi was delicious, soft, creamy. Congee, siu mai and beancurd rolls were classics; tasty, can’t really go wrong with those. Wouldn’t really recommend the fried seaweed rolls, they were just okay.
The food was not bad. Very good service and nice atmosphere. Enjoy! (2025-09)
Our current favourite place for dim sum. Very wide variety. Like the push carts. Can pick whatever catches our fancy. Service can be limited when it gets too crowded. Otherwise a great place to have brunch.
Had dinner with overseas relatives on Saturday night—12 adults in total. The restaurant was bustling, with a lively celebration downstairs for a baby’s first birthday (around 200 guests!). Thankfully, we were seated in a private room upstairs, where there are also several karaoke rooms, adding a fun touch to the atmosphere. Service was excellent—attentive and friendly staff throughout the evening. We ordered a generous spread: Peking spare ribs, black pepper wagyu beef, almond prawn chicken, steamed fish, scallops with vermicelli, duck sang choy bao, duck pancakes, and a standout snow crab in salted egg yolk. Every dish was beautifully presented, fresh and awesome in flavour. Though prices leaned slightly higher, the quality of food and overall experience made it well worth it. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Perth—highly recommended for group dining or special occasions.
